Hogsmead is the closest village to Hogwarts. It also happens to be a well-known wizarding village loved by the inhabitants of the area.
Hogsmeade is the terminus of the Hogwarts Express and is home to some of the world's most famous landmarks, including the Shrieking Shack.
The village is closely linked to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, as students arriving on the Hogwarts Express get off at Hogsmeade.
The students then reach the school by various means. They do so by crossing the lake for first-year students or riding in carriages pulled by Thestrals for the others.
From their third year onwards, students are allowed to travel to Hogsmeade several times a year.
The students visiting the village must have a signed permission from their parents or guardians to do so.
The village has many venues that offer Hogwarts residents a way out of the school's routine.
The place has its history and was the stage of many notorious events involving the wizarding community.
It also has its secrets as there are many secret passages between Hogwarts school and the village.
